These apartments in the Melbourne inner-city suburb of Armadale represents the perfect balance between architecture and interiors, minimalism and subtle glamour.
Winner of 2022 HIA Apartment of the Year award and created by acclaimed Australian design studios Conrad Architects and Mim Design, these apartments are crafted with streamlined poise and timeless, quality materials.
The design draws on grand, classical proportions and plays with open and opaque surfaces that lend an elegant rhythm to the façade. The façade’s colonnade is a key example, made of limestone and offering not only a visually powerful grid that accentuates verticality and defines the building’s overall look, but also cleverly creates space for a series of details, such as the double glazed Low E, bronze custom anodised French doors, balustrades, planter boxes and louvred privacy screens.
Inside, a prevailing sense of calm and pared-down luxury dominates. Light filled spaces with clean lines and surfaces, featuring floor to ceiling Reynaers CS77 thermally broken double glazed windows softened by ethereal fabric curtains. Key statements such as the sculptural, curved staircase rising up to large north facing living areas drenched in northern light through Low E energy efficient windows opening out to the surrounding views.
The apartments are defined by a linear circulation spine directly linking the front and rear and affording separation between public and private zones. The open kitchen, living and dining areas unfurl as light-filled and luxurious spaces for living, presenting framed views via Reynaers CS77 double-glazed fixed windows to a manicured garden. The outdoor garden space is accessed via double-glazed hinged doors with planting by Paul Bangay Garden Design.
The carefully woven together architecture, interiors and innovative use of Reynaers CS77 flush door and window systems ensure the apartments feel majestic and refined, with natural light filled living spaces that are warm and comfortable, fit for everyday family life.
